Mixon Fruit Farms Takes a "Fresh" Look at going green with SmartCool
Bradenton, FL — Mixon Fruit Farms, www.mixon.com was recently awarded a certificate in recognition for “going green” by Global Energy Services.
Mixon Fruit Farms working in collaboration with Global Energy Services, Inc., (GES) www.globalenergysvcs.com, a Smartcool premier independent regional partner, installed Smartcool's ECO3™ on their eight air conditioning compressors that cool a large display room, customer service area, business offices and deli.
Dean Mixon, owner of Mixon Fruit Farms commented, "After we had Smartcool ECO3™ installed at our home on the beach and we saw our electric bill go down by over $100 a month, it was time to give them a try at our business." Mixon continued, "We own Mixon Fruit Farms, a family owned business for over 70 years. This is a seasonal business and we are always looking to lower our overhead especially in the summer months. Our AC is at least 70% of our electric bill and the Smartcool ECO3™ units have cut that cost by 30% in the past four months, and these were the four hottest months in Manatee County’s history."
Bob Burton, Regional Director, GES Southwest Florida remarked “To me personally, it is rewarding to help a business find ways to lower their energy use, save money and at the same time help save the planet.”
The ECO3™ is an economical, green and retrofit technology that optimizes compressor run time. The ECO3™ is expected to lower power consumption (kWh) used by the existing air conditioning and refrigeration systems used to cool the display room, customer service area, business offices and deli by as much as 30 percent.
Installing the ECO3™ is both green and shows a great return on investment (ROI). The retrofit takes about one hour to install. The average ROI is 10 to 14 months.
Upwards of 700 ECO3™ units have been installed in residential and in commercial applications in the restaurant, hospitality and retail sectors across the Sunshine State in 2010.
Phil and Barb Plastic, Managing Partners of Global Energy Services, have found the ECO3™ to be an excellent product for their customers concerned with lowering their operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions. "This product provides our large base of commercial customers with superb energy efficiency gains."
